Orientation

Saturday, February 13, 2010 11:18 | Deleted user

I attended an orientation with Albert Renteria as speaker.  Albert represents Southwest Veterans Business Center.  I came in with an open mind and wanted to see what he had to say.  Right away I seen he cares about fellow veterans.  He is most concerned about homeless veterans.  He stated he wanted this program to help get veterans off the street.  I learned this program is geared for not only a veteran owned business but outreaching to the homeless and see if we can't get them interested in participating in this program or get them involved with the business we want to build.

Albert outlined the plan in a clear and professional manner.  He pointed out that there are resorces available for the veterans who wants to get a business off the ground.  Albert also pointed out that a lot of non profit organizations that fund the business have the monies and not many veterans are taking advantage of them.  One thing I did learn is that veterans really don't know what they are qualified to receive.

Albert being an ex-marine is what he is proud to be.  He put across that he loves what he is doing.  Going around the country and opening resorce centers and getting veterans in to do research and planning to get a business off the ground.

I learned that this is a multi step process that I have to put into words, have people comment on what I write and turn around with a reply on those comments.  I do think this will be a good learning process and I think it will be work worth doing.  I look forward to this adventure.

And don't forget to subscribe to the discussion forum so we can all get to know one another better. I am finding a ton of those resources and posting them over there. I welcome your comments both in the discussion forum and in my blog. This is a journey you won't regret.

    Hi Kenneth,

We are moving a bit slowly on our posts. It looks like we have something in common. Let get to work and do this together. I look forward to following your journey.

Mr Schoenlein, welcome aboard. I like your choice of a sweater, as I'm a Seahawk fan all the way to the Corps.

DOD Welcome home-small.jpg A welcoming home for our Troops.

Welcoming home our men and women doesn't end after the crowd disperses, it MUST continue on for the life of the Veteran! They've served us, now we will serve them with programs that work so they reintegrate into society.
