Working On My First Chapter

Monday, December 29, 2008 11:09 | Lyndon Dellis

Last week during some of that heavy rainfall we had, as I was walking down the street with my umbrella up, I heard someone call my name. Looking around and seeing a large, new SUV at the corner I said to myself, who is that? At that point Fallbrooks honorary Mayor Rebbeca Waranch, stuck her head out the window of said SUV and said "hey Lyndon hows it going"? The Mayor had been kind enough to take time out of her busy schedule to attend my contract signing ceremony at the Vets Center a few weeks previously. Anyway she asked me when I would be making my first entry on the new book Im writing.

Her obvious interest in my journey has prompted me to make this entry today to let her and anyone else who may be interested, know that I have been composing my thoughts and will make my next post very soon.  Thank you Mayor for your interest and I invite you and anyone else who may be interested to make comments at whatever time is convenient. Thanks in advance for your time and interest.

Thanks LeRoy. You have been a big help to me personally, and I know that Al and everyone else appreciates all the time and effort that you donate so generously.

    Dear Lyndon,
Congratulations! You are on your way! It’s always the toughest to get started because we think we will start when we feel better so we wait, yet it is getting started and moving forward that actually makes us start feeling better.

I loved your story about the Mayor and could relate to the wonderful small town feeling where people actually recognize you, roll the window down as they are driving by and ask how you are doing.

I attended the Fallbrook grand opening and visited Fallbrook for the first time. What a lovely, supportive community. Being from a small town, it made me feel at home right away. I loved that every street doesn’t have a sidewalk and there is a beauty and coziness to the community. Let this feeling embrace you. Know that all of us want to encourage and support you in your progress. One of the hardest things for me is to accept help and yet I know I can’t do everything by myself (even though I still try) ha-ha!

Please know you are an inspiration to all of us. Sharing and caring are strengths and you have blessed us with coming into the Southwest Veterans Business Resource Center’s community. All of us are Learners in some way; what you are learning we all are learning, having guidance and support along the way make such a difference, and what you share while growing helps us all learn and grow.
I believe in you Lyndon! I’m looking forward to your next post.

    God Bless, chris

Thank you so much for your kind words sir. It is truly difficult to accept help! But I know that with the positive input and kind, encourging words of fine folks such as yourself that I am doing the right thing. Thanks again!

    Lyndon,

I feel a little hesitation in your note. You made the first step, so the best is yet to come. We are here for you! I was also at the opening and loved the Community. I am the quiet type so did not introduce myself :) Look forward to any thoughts you feel you want to share on this forum. As you can tell from the postings, we aren't a brutal group! Congratulations for taking this step.

    Hi Lyndon,

First of all, I'm jealous reading about your rain which we need desparately here in Austin. Our drought just hangs on.

I too am delighted that you found your inspiration to break through the barrier that a blank sheet of paper can present. How many movies show a writer, composer, or other crumpling
up those first sheets of paper? I've been there myself and thank God for ideas that eventually come.

I am so very pleased that you found your way to SWVBRC where you will learn so much from Al and he from you as you discover strengths and insights you never realized you had through the writing of your book, just like pulling the leaves from an artichoke one by one and enjoying the tender part of each,
to finally reach the heart. I really, really hope you enjoy yourself being part of what sounds like a fantastic team
going through this amazing process together. Happy New Year!
    Sigrid

I was born in the great state of Texas and still have family there. I was also stationed at Ft. Hood Texas when I returned from overseas. I am very pleased to hear your very kind, encouraging words. I am already learning that many of my fellow Americans are indeed concerned and caring about me as an honorably discharged veteran. Thanks again and have a very prosperous new year!

"Hey Lyndon how's it going?". I am so glad to see that you are moving right along in the program! I think our center is really on it's way in giving veterens the tools they need to change their lives. Every new signer, new blog and new chapter posted is exciting in itself. I can not wait to the shake the hand of the first signer to complete the program, Lyndon is it going to be you?

Sounds like you have a fine support system in your area if the mayor and other posters know you, and offer encouragement.
Best wishes for your continued growth in the program...you have made a fine start!
