Meet the Speakers
Rod JaffeRod Jaffe,
Contract and Services Officer and Administrative Services Manager
County of Riverside - Department of Public Social Services (DPSS)

Rod Jaffe has worked for Riverside County for 15 years the last event as the DPSS Contract and Services Officer and Administrative Services Manager.  Rod has educational experience from several universities' most recently from CUR's Executive Management Program, San Diego State's Leaders in Action program and Riverside County's Leadership Initiative.  Before he joined the COunty, Rod was Vice President and General Manager of Quality Drug Corporation in Newport Beach, California.  ROd is also the current President of the National Contract Management Association - Inland Empire chapter. 

As a regular speaker, Rod has done presentations on Ethics in Government, Generations in the Workplace, Understanding Social Service Funding and How to Answer a Request for Proposal.  Rod currently oversees a wide range of units in the County including: Contracting, Purchasing, Warehouse Operations Vehicles, Asset Management, Records Management and Travel.

Rita Medellin was raised in Compton, California and relocated from Los Angeles County to Riverside County in 1988.  She was employed as a Purchasing Agent with a firm in Montebello, CA and decided to pursue a professional field in Purchasing by receiving her certification from UCLA as a Purchasing and Materials Manager.

Rita is currently a Construction Project Manager with EDA/PMO for the County of Riverside.  Currently Rita specializes in small construction projects and has completed approximately 250+ projects to date, with her largest roject valued at $2.6 million.  Prior to working with EDA/PMO, Rita worked with Purchasing & Fleet Services for 17+ years as the Procurement Contract Specialist for several commodities including Public Works for construction projects under $125,000. 

Rita has presented several Public Works training classes for county departments throughout and continues to assist when called to duty.
